Thanks for reaching out. The additional _glquery parameter are normal for AMP URLs with Analytics setup correctly with AMP linker. Any valid AMP URL can be served from AMP Cache and in order to attribute visits to your own origin domain (as opposed to the full AMP cache domain) this is why AMP Linker is used, and part of the Analytics module of the Site Kit plugin.

If you install Analytics correctly without Site Kit and implement AMP Linker you’ll also notice the additional URL query parameter.

You’ll find out more about the additional query parameter below:
    https://developers.google.com/gtagjs/devguide/linker

Let me know if you have any further queries on this and I’d be happy to assist.

Thank you for quick answer. I have few more questions about this. Why I see this _gl query parameter on desktop when I click on some posts on my site? It looks ugly and weird to me (it will also probably look strange to others). I use free Neve theme that is native AMP WordPress theme and amp standard mode, litespeedcache plugin, and cloudflare (if that’s important)

I am not do any setup with AMP linker I just connected Site Kit plugin with my Google Analytics. First time I heard about Amp Linker ( I am fairly new with AMP).

Also just yesterday I added to GA this my site productcomparison co. And I was looking to integrate analytics for the site and for AMP pages. The AMP plugin in analytics section suggest using the Site Kit plugin, so I tried with your plugin.

I’m not technically on a special level, but shouldn’t AMP only be related to visits from a mobile phone, and not related to visits from a desktop device?

I understand, the appearance may seem confusing although it’s not specific to a theme or standard mode AMP. You’ll notice similar parameters when accessing a non WordPress AMP first site such as https://www.amp.dev from Google search. From there click on an internal link. The Analytics product experts should be able to explain it better if queried using the Analytics Help Center. The additional parameters are normal and in my experience retract after being accessed.

AMP Linker is built into the Analytics module within Site Kit, so users don’t have to implement manually. This blog post explains it better than I could here.

Great that you used Site Kit, which makes it easier to implement the correct Analytics tracking code on your site without having to manually insert snippets.

AMP isn’t just for mobile, although you may get most of your AMP traffic on mobile if served from Search Engines, with the Search Engines determining the version of your site to be served (AMP or non AMP).

Let me know if you have any further queries, and thanks for using Site Kit.

Yes, additional parameters disappear after one moment. But again that look very weird, especially for someone who is not tech savvy. I am not so much technically and informatively illiterate, but it still seems rather strange to me.

So, I just want to confirm that additional are not anything wrong and that can not cause any problem?

Also is there option to I successfully use Google Analytics and count visits and everything else for website “normal version” and for AMP pages without additional _gl query parameter?

Sure, I can confirm there is nothing wrong, with this being expected behaviour.

Using the same Analytics tracking code your site visits traffic is collected between you non AMP and AMP regardless. You can filter within Analytics to compare the traffic, or you can use this dashboard. The _gl query parameter I believe is to maintain traffic when your site is served from amp cache.
