• When I look at my plugin directory (with FTP client) I can see more plugins than when my designer looks at the directory. My WP admin plugin page seems to see the same list that my designer sees, because the ones that I upload don’t show up.

What the #^&$*$ is going on??

BTW I’ve checked to see whether there are 2 plugin directories, but can only see one.

  • Many times plugins come a “double” or “nested” directory, e.g.
    fancy-plugin 1.0.3
    and inside there is
    – readme.txt
    – licence.txt
    – fancy-plugin dir

Usually you need to upload only the inside dir. Just guessing here…

EDIT. Sometimes you need to upload only the *.php file, and the unzipped plugins will not show up, of course ??

Hi Moshu -thanks so much for spending time thinking this through with me. I’ve taken care of the ‘nested directories’. But that hasn’t changed anything.
What did you mean by uploading only the *.php file? If you did that, would it show up or not?

I can’t get over the weird thing that I can see more plugins in the directory than my designer can. And when I upload plugins, they don’t show up in the admin part. When he uploads plugins for me, they do.

What did you mean by uploading only the *.php file?

I have seen cases when although the package was a directory, the plugin itself was a single .php file (which was packed together with a readme or something in a folder). And according to their instructions (I know, I am the 1 in million who always reads the instructions BEFORE using anything…) you need to upload only the single file to the server.

As for the differences between his and your upoads… I give up.
