Weird indentation of comment

I do not have my WP set for threaded comments but I notice that on one of my posts, after my reply, there is a second reply which is indented. There is no ability to reply specifically to someone’s post that I can see and yet the post is one tab in as though there were that ability. Has anyone encountered this?
