I’m experiencing a weird issue when using Shortcake UI in combination with ARVE Video Embed.

When uploading images to the media gallery, images appears multiple times identically just with slighty different file names while WordPress claims that the upload failed (“An error occurred in the upload”).

The issue appears when ARVE and Shortcake UI both are installed and active while it disappears if either of the two plugins is deactivated. Feedback from the ARVE developer is that their plugin is just utilizing the functionality of Shortcake UI so the bug/issue must be in the Shortcake UI code …

How to reproduce the issue:

Add new post – add media – create gallery – upload files (and do so) – create new gallery – insert gallery – repeat adding a new gallery

-> uploading the file(s) for the second gallery result in the error message “file0040.jpg An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.”

In fact, the image files are being uploaded and multiplied in the media gallery. If you check, there are several identical images now with file names file0040-1.jpg, file0040-2.jpg etc.

This behavior can be stopped by saving the post after every gallery/image inserted into the post, which of course is pretty annoying.

I’ve tested this in three different WordPress blogs with different themes and in one cast (a test environment) with all other plugins deactivated.

I’d love to keep using ARVE and Shortcode UI plugins as I did for years and never had this issue; it started just recently …

I tested much further and it seams that this is a general bug in Shortcake UI. The issue doesn’t only appear with ARVE, but it appears as soon as ANY plugin or (or code in the functions.php) registers a shortcode with Shortcake UI. It even happens with the Shortcake UI Example plugin … That makes Shortcake UI literally unusable. Any suggestions, please?

Is this plugin still maintained and supported? Just wondering as there is no answer what so ever ??

I’ve installed Shortcake UI 0.7.3 and the issue doesn’t appear there. So it obviously is a bug that came with version 0.7.4.

Stumbled across the same issue and traced it down to the forced full re-initialization of the uploader: https://github.com/wp-shortcake/shortcake/commit/81b5ae2692aa5c92be3b153a3b3ed0263cf305bd

So I tried to replace this forced full re-initialization with some solution that will not break what that re-initialization is fixing and also not cause the multiple upload bug. Maybe it will be useful for somebody…
