Hello, I have a WordPress site that had been using Wordfence successfully for years. It did not send out the weekly report on Monday. I attempted to run a manual report via Diagnostics > Other Tests > send a test activity report. I attempted to send a report several times to different email address. I checked by spam folders. No email was sent.

I tried Diagnostics > Other Tests > send test email. That works perfectly. I can also have the system send a password reset email. So the system can send emails.

I ran a Wordfence scan and that worked. I ended up using the WF dashboard report, but I’d rather have one emailed.

    Can you help?

Hi @mperry8304, thanks for reaching out about this.

It seems quite unusual on the face of it that test emails and other triggered immediately like password resets would work, but I think this could be linked to a cron being stuck or the part of sendmail/postfix that might receive these instructions and send them out.

If the weekly summary is enabled in Wordfence > All Options > Email Alert Preferences > Activity Report > Enable Email Summary (with dropdown set to “Once a week”), then the issue could be whether your cron jobs are running. You can check the dates/times of these in Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Cron Jobs. The job wordfence_email_activity_report should show you if it is scheduled. Try disabling the summary, or changing frequency from weekly to daily/monthly, save the changes, then change it back to your desired frequency to see if it has an effect on re-triggering them.

If your web server is having a problem with the email software on it, a restart of postfix or sendmail (whichever is installed) can fix it. Your hosting provider may need to help with this.

Let us know how you get on,
    Peter.

Thanks so much for this. When I changed the frequency of the reports, the cron job setting did not change. So I think that’s the problem. Thanks for the help!
