• I just upgraded to the 3.x version of the plugin from the 2.x version, and ran into a few issues:

    • When selecting “Week” from the “View As” options on the frontend, the week is showing up with no Events listed.
    • The “Month” view is only showing Events on the first 2 weeks, and not even showing blank dates for the remainder of the month. (Today is the 17th, but I only see July 1-14th on the calendar. Each visible date shows the default of 3 events, and all but the 14th show a “View All # >>” option. I actually had this calendar issue on the previous version, and was hoping the new limit for events per day on the calendar view would fix this. It didn’t.)
    • My other concern is that when I attempt to delete an Event from the admin view, it no longer asks me whether to delete ALL or only the current ONE instance of a repeating Event. This could cause serious issues with managing Events.

  • Hi jipgirl,

    1. The open source version of our plugin should not include the Week view. Are you running the PRO version as well? Have you tried updating?

    2. Have you tried updating to the latest version(s)?

    3. This unfortunately was an intentional change to the way the plugin worked before and if you’re working with recurring events, you must be using the PRO plugin and you should really post to our PRO forums instead of here to get help. To delete an individual instance of a recurring event now, you must go in and edit that particular event. The recurring popup will no longer show in the events list and click Trash there WILL delete all events in the series.

I am using the PRO version, as well as the “Community Events” add-on. I was on the most recent update as of my original post, but I see that there is now a new update for all 3 plugins. I will be updating to the newer versions today.

I used to go in on a daily basis to remove any events that had completely passed (including the individual instances that had passed of recurring events that were still recurring). I did this to help with the issue of the calendar not showing all of the events that it should. The system seemed to be limiting the number of events listed to a certain number, and deleting past events helped more relevant events be shown on the calendar. (Our readers aren’t looking to see what has already happened, but what is coming up event-wise.)

I know there were also a few events that recurred on say a weekly basis, but would skip a week because of a holiday or something. Would these now need to be entered as separate events? (One before the skipped week, and one after?) I used to be able to simply delete the skipped week’s instance.

I forgot to mention on my original post that sorting by “End Date” in the admin area was no longer sorting correctly. I will try again on the new version.

    Just to update:

    – I still am not seeing all of the Events that I should on the Calendar, but now believe it may be related to a timeout issue we’ve been having. (I see a timeout error if I “View Source” of the page.) I’d like to suggest a “View Upcoming Events Only” checkbox for the Calendar View, similar to the “Show only the first upcoming instance of recurring events” checkbox that appears on the Photo View. (I really like the Photo View btw!)

    – The sorting is still not working correctly in the admin area on this page: “../wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=tribe_events”. Sorting by “End Date” is only semi-sorting by “End Date”. I suspect it is sorting by type of end date (recurring vs. non-recurring, etc.) before the actual end date, because it is somewhat sorted correctly…with the occasional not-sorted-correctly date thrown in. Clicking “Organizer” or “Venue” column headers also gives me “no events found”.

    Organizer sort link: “../wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=tribe_events&orderby=tribe_sort_ecp_organizer_filter&order=asc”

    Venue sort link: “../wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=tribe_events&orderby=tribe_sort_ecp_venue_filter&order=asc”

    Current plugin versions:
    – The Events Calendar 3.0.2
    – The Events Calendar: Community Events 3.0.1
    – The Events Calendar PRO 3.0.4

Hey there jipgirl. Just wanted to follow-up here, since Jonah actually left us recently (Friday was his last day) and I wanted to make sure we were able to drive the thread to completion for you.

That said: if you’re a PRO user and have a Community license to boot, would you mind bringing this over to the forums at https://tri.be ? We can provide both a deeper and more timely level of support to premium users, and as you’re one of them, I’d like you to take advantage of what you’ve paid for.

See you on the PRO forums, and thanks for your patience so far!
