    Hi.

    Danke,

    Christian

    Hello @halbherz

thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

The question you ask is a not easy for me to answer, because I am not sure how the WooCommerce Zettle Integration works and we have never tested the switch from their plugin to our plugin (mainly because we don’t have an subscription/account for that plugin).

What I suggest you do is to create a staging site to make a test WordPress site and have ore or two fake products there, that are not in your current Zettle library. Sync these products to your Zettle library (make sure this does not wipe out your existing Zettle library) and then do the switch to our plugin. In step 2/6 of onboarding you will be asked to choose if you want to add or replace; here you want to add the products, otherwise you will most likely remove all existing products on Zettle.
If that creates new products and you find them duplicated on your site, you won’t be able to continue with the products on Zettle and need to start from scratch with the sync. If you only find 1 set of your products, it means that the existing products continue to work with the change to our plugin.

Does that make sense to you? Let me know if you need additional support on this; we are happy to help.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Does not really make sense to me. Isnt a staging site ment to NOT be connetcted to Zettle POS? So if i duplicate my site to a staging state, and then add two fake products, connect the staging site to Zettle POS and add check add products, arent there two sites connected to Zettle POS. The “normal” one, and the staging one? And, if that is correct, do you mean, that the fake products should show up on “normal” page stock via the Zettle APP?

    Hello @halbherz

Yes correct, that is to imitate your live library, so you can test your change on that and not affect the actual live site. When you create to make this 2nd sync on your staging site, you have to use another API key because the URL that is stored within this key will point towards the website (in the case of the staging site, that will be a subdirectory of the original site) so won’t work for the other.

A staging site works just as well as a normal site, as long as you don’t use a local test environment since the Zettle server/webhooks won’t be able to reach those for pushing updates.

I hope this clarifies things, but don’t hesitate to come back with follow up questions.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

    So, let me sum up:

    – duplicate my site to a staging enviroment
    – disconnect the live site from zettle
    – get another api key from you
    – connect staging site to zettle via your plugin
    – add two fake products
    – clicking add, not to remove the old products in zettle
    – see if the new two products show up on staging site

    correct?

What i do not understand is, how is this going to help me? Do i have to make some sells on “old” products, to see if they get synced on the created staging enviroment? And if yes, everything is fine?

Sorry for the questions, but i really do want to try it out, but am afraid of losing the informations inside zettle (reports, old products, everything). If this does not work, and i do have to start from scratch, does that mean that all the information regarding old sales in zettle is also lost?

    Hello @halbherz

    not completely correct:
    – duplicate my site to a staging environment (correct)
    – disconnect the live site from zettle (not necessary, the link between your live site and the staging site will be separated)
    – get another api key from you (you generate this API key on the WooCommerce Zettle settings page)
    – connect staging site to zettle via your plugin (first you would need to connect with the old plugin, to simulate the situation you are trying to test for)
    – add two fake products (after you delete the staging site products (just to not mix up or overwrite the live site products and keep it clear for yourself which is which)
    – clicking add, not to remove the old products in zettle
    – see if the new two products show up on staging site.
(then after this you would switch to our plugin and see if the sync would work after this change.

So just to be clear: the initial onboarding for this test should be done with the old plugin and then when you have the test products on your Zettle account, you need to switch to our plugin and see if you can sync the WooCommerce products to the existing Zettle products.

Let me now if this is clear now.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
