WordPress is a great blog and cms software. Yet I keep on seeing more websites that use WordPress without any mention. They even strip anything within the code that reefers to wordpress.

Personally I get frustrated when I see that. But what can be done against such sites?

Nothing. It’s released GPL, so people aren’t required to give credit. They should, but it’s not violating a law or anything not to.

Thanks. They should atleast mention wordpress, instead of acting like they made it.

Why? You say it’s running WordPress, you give hackers a big headstart on knowing what exploits to try.

By that logic, perhaps they should say they’re using Movable Type just to throw hackers off.

I think WordPress should be given credit. After all its the WordPress team that put all the hard work into the CMS that the site is using.

However, there is absolutely nothing that can be done against these sites that choose use WordPress anonymously.
