• Hi,

My website works fine but I can’t login.

I get a blank screen when typing in “the-complete-web.com/wp-admin”. When I type in “https://the-complete-web.com/wp-login.php” I get the login screen with the message “ERROR: Cookies are blocked due to unexpected output.”. I can’t login using this page.

These are the following things I have tried without success:
    – Tried “Lost Your Password?” on the wp-login.php screen but link in email led to a blank screen.
    – Cleared cookies and cache.
    – Renaming plugin directory.
    – Renaming theme directory.
    – Entering new password in database using phpMyAdmin.
    – Manually updating WordPress. I got an error so had to restore the old version manually.
    – Upgrading manually gave me a new wp-login.php file.

I looked at my deleted emails and noticed that I got an email from WordPress on 9/19/17 saying that my site was automatically upgraded to 4.5.10 and that 4.8.2 was available. Everything was working fine when I last logged in months ago so maybe the update broke something.

    Please help me! Thanks.

  • Might be some issue with site files, backup your site and reinstall WordPress.

I don’t know how to “re-install” WordPress since I can’t get to the admin area. I tried manually upgrading WordPress to the latest version but got an error so had to restore old version.
