Website suddenly stopped displaying images and type content

  • Hi guys,

    Really strange but out of the blue my website has stopped displaying images and text content. I hadn’t altered anything, it just happened. The site still loads and admin is still accessible. I have updated all plugins and checked they are all compatible by disabling them individually. I am also running the latest version of WordPress. Absolutely baffled as to why the site has just decided to weirdly lock off from content loading.

    The theme is ‘The Producer’ and I have contacted the developer directly but I’m just getting jumpy about downtime.

    Any thoughts or input on this would be hugely appreciated.

    Luke, there are JavaScript errors on your site that suggest your theme or a plugin uses older code that may not work correctly after the WordPress 5.5.1 update:

    Your Theme ‘The Producer’ is last updated is on 31 January 2017 and your theme is not compatible with WordPress latest version so I think WordPress latest version is not accepting your theme.

    To display your content and image you need to change your WordPress version 5.1.x or you need to change your theme.

    Thanks you so much for your help Niall and Tenzinchoenyi. I’ve installed the plug-in you suggested Niall and my site is now working! Do you know how long this quick fix will work, or will it just cease to function with the next WordPress update? I really appreciate the info Tenzinchoenyi with regards to using an older version of WordPress but would this seriously effect the security of my site?

    I’m hoping the developer will update the script ASAP or I may have to migrate to a different theme.

    Yes, Older version would effect the security of your site and your site and theme would be more vulnerable from hacking.

    I don’t think developer will update the theme as developer doesn’t update the theme since 2017.

    As far as I’m aware, the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin was developed to give extra time after developers had been warned about the code changes.

    It’s likely that your theme won’t work after the next WordPress update. In any case, as @tenzinchoenyi noted, an older theme and WordPress version makes your site more vulnerable to hackers.
