• Good Morning,

    Pre-warning, I’m a beginner.

In a nutshell – I recently inherited the website linked. It’s never been brilliant but it worked. Over the weekend I received word that the website was down, it was returning a 503 error and I couldn’t get to the wp-admin login page. My hosts diagnosed to be a potential plugin issue.

After reading about how to access the File Manager and rename the plugin folder the website appeared but of course – none of carousels, forms etc worked.

I have since worked my way through and have added plugins back to the plugin folder but have found that there’s several which cause the 503 error.

For example: Shortcodes_Ultimate, content-views_query-and-display-post-page and Akismet are three which cause the error.

The website appears, I can also now get access to the wp-admin login page but when I input the credentials and hit ‘okay’ I get stuck in a re-direct loop and Chrome tells me that I should clear my Cookies. I’ve done this and still can’t get access to the dashboard.

I would really appreciate any help getting things fixed. I have tried to research other topics and blogs but none really seem to share the same symptoms.

    Thank you in advance.

    Kind regards,

    Des

    Hi All,

I have continued to experiment and wanted to update the thread to help narrow things down to a solution.

Tried re-naming the current activated theme – after trying the website again I get a message saying the current theme directory was not found.

I also tried re-naming .htasccess but that also doesn’t solve the problem either, and I still get a re-direct loop when I click on ‘dashboard.’

    Hi,

It seems that I am experiencing the same problem. The issue is that we have an external person who has created our website with WordPress. We are now getting the following message:

    503 Service Unavailable
A temporary error was encountered while processing this request.
Website owner? If you think you have reached this message in error, please contact support.

The person who created our website has gone on a Trek to Mount Everest Basecamp and we do not know what to do. Our website is down.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?
