  • Hi @eheijns,
Thanks for dropping this message. Firsty of all Optimole has nothing to do with ALT texts. It is totally handled by your website. Let me explain further.\

Looking at the code of your website I can see there is a ALT test cof your logo image: https://i.imgur.com/vvZnQT5.jpeg Now I don’t know if that’s the actual ALT text for your image.

But the point here is that if your theme is loading the images in a proper WP way by using proper WP functions like wp_get_attachment_image() then the ALT text automatically gets added to the image from whatever you have entered in the media library.

That being said a lot of times, theme developers don’t use these native methods properly and instead just load the image with a hardcoded image tag where WP is just providing image URL and not the whole image tag. In this case, it won’t fetch the ALT text as it is using a hard coded image tag.

Optimole simply optimizes your images and serve them from super fast CDN in future ready formats. But it has no business with change or altering your ALT text in any way.

Thanks for the reply. I use Astra theme. The most used theme there is. I haven’t heard ANYONE who uses the Astra theme that images are flagged without alt text by Ahrefs. Also, Ahrefs complains ONLY about ONE image: logo11.png which HAS alt text in my library.. It’s the logo I use in my Header which is of course on ALL pages. Which forum can help me with this persistent issue?

    Hi @eheijns,
Inside Astra if you edit the home page and select the logo, I’m sure it will show you a section to add ALT texts. You can also contact Astra support about asking them how to update the ALT text or why updating the ALT text in the Media Library is not getting reflected in the logo itself.

I can assure you that this is not an optimole issue and just to test it, you can temporarily disable optimole if you like and you will see the ALT text for your logo will remain the same.

Yes, I probably could try disabling Optimole. I used the logo11.png from my Library, but Optimole seems to have optimized it:

In my view its Optimole that causes the issie (see optimole.com in the optimized image link). will try disabling Optimole.

Someone else on this forum had the same issue:

“How do I get optimole to use the image alt text from the media library? The values are missing from the images hosted on optimole.”

    Hi @eheijns,
As I sated above, optimole will only modify the image URL but do not touch any other aspect of the image tag like ALT text, class names etc.

Optimole changes the image URL so service optimized image but as I said it does not modify anything else.

After temporarily deactivating the Optimole plugin if your issue is resolved them please drop a message at https://optimole.com/#contact and the will look at your website. But first try temporarily deactivating Optimole and see if your ALT text issue remains, if it still remains you can enable the plugin back and be sure that the issue is not coming from Optimole.

The image HAS an alt text in my Library! Why does this problem occur ONLY for my logo image hosted by Optimole? All other images are fine according to Ahrefs.

So, you are saying that after deactivating Optimole plugin you are seeing correct alt text for your logo?

    Thread Starter eheijns

    (@eheijns)

I will do this shortly and check with Screaming Frog SEO Spider or another Ahrefs crawl.

How was this resolved in the end?

Renamed logo11.png to logo.png. Deactivated Optimole. Logo is not flagged as missing alt text anymore by Ahrefs. After activating Optmole again it’s using the Optimole hosted logo11.png again with the missing alt text. How to resolve this? I’d like to still use Optimole for image optimization.

    Hi @eheijns,

Please contact us via https://optimole.com/#contact as we might need more information about your website to see what’s going on…
