OceanWP slow speed – PageSpeed insights/Lighthouse

  • Hi, we got a warning in Google Search Console for pages being slow +3 secs to load.
    Although we use a cache plugin, optimize images etc.

    We use your template in two different hostings and in both we get a really low score and scary loading times.

    I read other users mention this and were suggested checking “Scripts & Styles Panel”. We literally deactivated all JS and CSS there.

    The problem is that “Scripts and styles” ignores the CSS and JS which affect speed the most, example:

    Dashicons and genericons are taking 16 KB 1,380 ms and 28 KB 1,680 ms and we can’t even disable them. Is that section deprecated? We disabled the Fontawesome.css but still loads and most of the CSS and JS slowing the website is not selectable from that panel.

    Anyway guys I love your template but please tell developers to check theme’s performance with Google’s page insights and Lighthouse chrome extensions cause is not good at all even in your demo templates and those extensions will directly impact Google Search Console and your rankings.

    So in short, how is it posible that disabling all the CSS and JS in that section gives us the same loading speed? We have left all enabled cause it made no difference.

    Thanks for reply, yes I agree. Is a pitty cause I still believe this is the best WP theme but currently is a SEO killer. We switched from a horribly performing Divi template and even that theme got half loading times and our rankings are affected.

    Please, to any OceanWP developer reading this, check issues simply by using Google Optimization tools mentioned above. This used to be one of the best WP themes for SEO but seems the loading speeds and scripts have gone out of control.

    Also please check Theme Panel/Scripts and Styles cause most don’t work or make little to none performance difference.

    Loading speeds of 6 or 8 seconds on litespeed servers and other fast hostings and using heavy reducing cache plugins such as WP fastest cache or Rocket cache is a big issue.
