A WordPress site I support is running very slowly. It ranges from 8-15 seconds to load the homepage. I’ve searched the web for solutions and here’s what I’ve done so far:
    1. Deleted unused plugins and updated all current plugins
    2. Moved Javascript from the header to the footer
    3. Added an expiration header in the htaccess file
    4. Optimized the two images on the homepage
    5. Installed the w3 cache plugin (this was recently deactivated since it was caching the mobile version of the site and serving it to desktops but even with this module, it was still at least 8 seconds to load).
    6. Setup Cloud Flare (as recommended by my hosting provider)
    7. Installed and ran Plugin Performance Profiler. The major plugins by time were:
    a. Jetpack (although it says for this it may show artificially high results)
    b. Mojo Marketplace Wp Plugin
    c. W3 Total Cache (seems odd since it’s deactivated)
    8. Turned off revisions

Size: 50 posts and 30 pages with no comments, 10 users

Current Active Plugins: Akismet, BuddyPress, BuddyPress Captcha, Jetpack, MOJO Marketplace, P3, Private content, UpdraftPlus, and WangGuard

I’m running out of ideas. Any help would be much appreciated.

You could goto https://gtmetrix.com/ and then check the timeline to see what is causing your site to load so slow.

Google Chrome and Firefox also have some tools built in as well as extensions/addons to assist you.

That was actually one of the sites I used for suggestions. I did some of the suggestions but otherwise were unclear. For instance, the one red suggestions says: “Leverage browser caching”

How would I do this in WordPress? I already added an expiration header to the htaccess file as per another post’s recommendation. All the files it lists are .js files.
