• I have two websites that I want to remove from my WPMU install.

I think what I need is to be able to copy all pages, posts, images, themes, plugins etc from the individual sites on the network in some kind of backup.

I wold then create a fresh install of WP in a new directory, set permaliinks and restore one of these backups.

Can anyone please recommend me a backup tool to do this with or another way that works.

I’m pulling my hair out here!

Not all my images came over, but enough and the rest I can do manually. I don’t know why the ones that didn’t, didn’t come across.

My next question is can I copy user tables in the database to bring across users?

    OK, so I’m guessing table “wp_users”, if I take over “user_login”, “user_nicename”, “user_email” and “display_name”

Then request that all the users reset their passwords.

Would that work? Is there a better way ?

Can you copy the users… Yes and no.

You can, but you should have been able to create new users with their names when you imported. The problem copying the tables is that the user IDs won’t watch.

    The IDs wont watch ?
I think is “the IDs wont match” ?

    If so, match what?
This particular site has no blog posts and no other users other than admin.
I’ve tried it and it appears to have worked.
Obviously the ID’s are not in order, but does this matter?
There are no duplicates and nothing that need to be cross referenced (not that I can see anyway)

I look forward to hearing from you (because I feel chuffed).

The IDs won’t match, yeah, sorry. Typoed!

You have a user ID associated with your posts. If you look on wp_posts, you’ll see that user ID 1 (for example) is the author. If you add a new user, they won’t be the same ID. All your posts will get mucked.

IF however, you’ve got no posts (really? None? Then what the heck did you just import?) then it’s less an issue, but it could cause conflicts with incrimenting user IDs later on.
