Hi all, I’m new to WP and have been asked to take on maintenance of a site.

I created a staging site and made some simple changes to that, but then noticed the page was showing a totally different menu to what it should. OK, I can fix that, I thought, but when I go to “Edit with Elementor” the correct menu shows and the page looks right.

I am totally baffled. Any reason why this could be happening please?

As it’s a staging site it needs an ID and password which I cannot give, unfortunately.

If you publish do you see the correct layout?

    Can you add some screenshots?

Did you try to clear your browser cache?

    Thanks for replying.

By “publish” do you mean pushing the staging site to live? If so I’m reluctant to do that as the live site is OK at the moment. See, I’m really new to WP!

Happy to put up a couple of screenshots but I don’t see where I can do that.

    Cleared the cache.

It’s not a major issue, I just set up another staging site and duplicated my changes, and that’s showing fine. I just wondered if this was something that commonly occurs for which there’s a simple solution. It’s probably something stupid that I did.

    Hi,

You can use this link to send some screenshots/screencasts demonstrating this?

Older versions of Elementor sometimes cause this kind of problem. However, there may be plugin updates available, so first, go to the Dashboard> updates and click the Check Again button to be sure.
So first check the Elementor version.

Secondly might be due to a cache issue. It happens if your styles are not applied online. For that, you have to regenerate the CSS via Elementor >tools>regenerate CSS on your wordpress Dashboard. Also, make sure you have cleared all forms of cache, and after clearing all cache, plus don’t forget to save changes.

Also, these kinds of problems occur due to themes. If it only affects typography (font size, font height, etc.) To make sure it’s a theme issue, you have to switch to default themes of wordpress, such as twenty Nineteen.

Thanks again. The site I have taken over needs all kind of plugin updates so I’d better get those sorted.

Will bear this in mind if it happens again.

    Cheers.
