Website not working

    PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!

    I have had my website with wordpress for the last four years and now going onto my website (which was working fine the other day) it says that
    ‘page can not be opened as the server can not be found’.
    I can not go onto my login page where I go on to update my pages and site. I have paid my renewal last month (like i have every year)

    I am on local host so don’t know if there was an update that I needed to do. but as I can’t log into my page if there anything i can do for my site?

    Please can someone shed a light on what is happening. Has my account been closed?

  • Err.. I am a bit confused about your problem. If you are on localhost (own local computer), why would you need to pay a renewal fee?

    Please share the following details:
    1) URL to website
    2) Where the site is hosted (hosting provider’s name)
    3) Any recent changes that you did (maybe changed some DB settings)
    4) Did your provider send any email/communicate that your site was going to be closed?

    Is your site hosted by WordPress.COM – if so, you’re on the wrong forums – these are for self-hosted WP.ORG sites.

    my website is https://www.andyburnettdance.co.uk

    as far as i know my site is on localhost but I pay a subscription to someone every year to socket host.

    no recent changes

    The only people I get emails from is my where I get my domain from. nothing from my hosting.

    my hosting company is wordpress but i can not access anything at all.

    Tried going onto the link that was on the post above and it won’t let me access it!!

    If your hosting company is WordPress then please post on WordPress.com’s forums.

    Didn’t notice your reply that the site was hosted by wordpress. As mentioned by the other mods, please post in the other forum.

    It doesn’t look like your hosting is WordPress.COM – according to this

    https://www.whois.com/whois/andyburnettdance.co.uk

    the nameservers are set to sockethost.net

    They’d be set to WordPress.COM’s setting is that were the case.

    I have tried going onto the sockethost.net site and on the bottom of the page it says that the domain for the site (sockethost.net) has expired. Does anyone know if they may have closed down? if this is the case it would mean a lot.

    An expired domain isn’t a good sign but it’s possible that they just failed to renew it. You might try googling around to see if you can find any info about it.

    BTW, do you have a backup of your site anywhere?

    The hosting site has closed down and I have now newly opened up a new hosting site. Thank you for all your replies and hopefully will have my site up and running again.
