• My website is not responding. I can get to the Admin. functionality and set up a new page, etc. but when I try to publish nothing happens and the browser eventually times out. I sometimes get a “Website is down for Maintenance …” message. The host says it’s running but I cannot navigate to it. I do not recall making any changes and I am not at all sure where to start troubleshooting.

I didn’t find anything in this article that helped. Here’s my directory structure. I don’t see a .maintenance file.
    URL: https://jfcooks.com/

    Here’s the directory

    /<..>
    /..
    /.cpanel
    /.cpanel-datastore
    /.fontconfig
    /.htpasswds
    /access-logs
    /etc
    /mail
    /public_ftp
    /public_html
    /ssl
    /tmp
    /www
    /.bashrc
    /.bash_logout
    /.bash_profile
    /.contactemail
    /.emacs
    /.gemrc
    /.kshrc
    /.lastlogin
    /.zshrc
    /webalizer.conf

You can be running out of memory or have some other error caused by a plugin/theme conflict. In your hosting in the directory public_html see if there is a file called “error_log” -see what is at the end of that file and if it has any relation to the error.

Also try to deactivate each plugin one by one to see if it helps

Thanks Tara and Speedito for the suggestions. Nothing seems to be making sense. The problem APPEARS to be with getting to the application server. I’ve contacted the hosting service and they are looking into it. Once they have eliminated network or server problems, then I may need to focus in on the software.
