• Hi,

According to my hosting company my website – https://www.getbirding.com – is not displaying because of a core dump file issue. This was their exact explanation:

“I have identified that while running the index page core files dump creating for your domain account.. Its mean problem in the application code.. Please check with any programmer to track the exact problem..

    root@cpanel9 [/home/davidwin/public_html]# php index.php
    Segmentation fault (core dumped)”

Does anyone perhaps have a view on whether this diagnosis is correct?

    Many thanks.

  • What hosting company are you using? What they have responded with , it sounds like English is there second language. That explanation doesn’t sound right to me. Just sounds like they had no idea and gave you some random response and passed it along to someone else (the programmer).

With that being said, I was able to view your site without any issue. Your images are not loading however ( all 404’ing ). Are you still having a problem?

    Thanks for the response, Evan.

I’m using a local South African hosting company and English is their first language, believe it or not.

I think you’re right. They’re trying to fob me off, which is reflected in their sloppy English.

I can also now view the site, but all formatting and structure is haywire. I wonder if the site hasn’t been hacked and some critical formatting removed. I’ll try upload a backed-up version to now try and resolve the formatting issue.

    Thanks again.

Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins and switching to something like TwentyFourteen theme to test if everything is still all messed up??

If so, then there is most likely something wrong with the server/host or with your specific installation.

Your not even getting 404’s on your images, but instead getting 500 errors:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)

Which usually happenes when you don’t have the proper permissions. It is very possible that your permissions were reset, and your host could reset them for you.

You could also connect to your FTP with something like FileZilla and updating the permissions on your uploads folder to 755.

    I would try that first…
