After the update the website was no longer visible at all. Access to admin not possible.

Only after renaming the better-wp-security folder within /wp-content/plugins the website is visible again.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi, same issue here, but with php 7.4 and the latest version of WP. It is impossible to see the wp-admin pages. I’m allowed to login, but then I’m redirected to the homepage and any URL from wp-admin shows a deny message “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”. Renaming the folder of the plugin doesn’t help.

    LATER EDIT:
The issue is related to the database.

The “admin” user was not an administrator anymore.

On the wp_usermeta table I added these two values, and then I was able to see the wp-admin pages.
    wp_capabilities –> a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;s:1:”1″;}
    wp_user_level — >10

installing a fresh version of the plugin worked for me.
The migration of the moved admin login worked fine as well.

    Thank you ??

Hi @andreasnoll, I’m so glad to hear your site is running again! Please don’t hesitate to reach out again if you have other issues with the plugin.

If you enjoy Solid Security and appreciate our free support, we’d love to get a kind review from you here.

    Thanks!

This is happening to me as well on many sites – with the PRO extension; should I submit a support ticket for visibility for the PRO support team as well?

    Hi @webfolk,

And you already tried (without success) SolidWP’s suggestion (manual reinstall of the plugin) provided in this topic?

This seems to have happened to me also, site performance went down and admin area/dashboard is hardly loading at all after the newest release.

I have WP Super Cache plugin also, and there has been reports of potential incompatibility, so I am not 100% certain of the origin of the problem. I just set up a mirror site for further troubleshooting.

EDIT: I cannot reproduce the exactly same site crash on the staging site (starting from the pre-release backup and updating to Solid Security), but I can see that enabling/disabling Solid Security affects the loading speed of admin area / dashboard pages significantly, the admin area loads very slowly with the plugin enabled.

@webfolk Absolutely do open a ticket with priority support if you have not already.

@jedes thanks so much for the troubleshooting there. I am not seeing degraded performance on any of my test sites, so I am still at a bit of a loss as to what specifically is going on for a small subset of our users.

The original post is resolved now, and I don’t want to keep spamming that poster with new responses. Please open a new post here if you’re still having problems!
