While doing routine work on my site – I use Thesis, I was updating the custom_functions.php file – my site disappeared. When I go to the URL, I get a blank page: no 404, no server error, nothing. I just get the URL on the Firefox tab. I can’t log in to the dashboard via /wp-admin.

I am able to connect via FTP. I created a dummy index.html file and it showed up fine.

I had something like this happen to another one of my sites; it turned out that my wp themes had gotten put into a backup folder. I moved them back out and everything was fine. This time, however, the themes are where they should be, the index.php file looks fine… everything looks fine.

    Any ideas? Please?

  • Sounds like a PHP error. Check the custom_functions.php file that you’ve been editing for errors. Your servers error logs might be able to pinpoint the error better.

    I figured it out.

I had copied one of my functions with the intention of modifying it, but I didn’t modify it when I saved the file. Having two functions with the same name completely killed everything.

I deleted the duplicate function and everything’s back to normal.

Now if I could just remember what I was trying to do before all this happened, I’d be in good shape.
