With memory errors like this, it is a culmination of all the things you have running and active on the site that causes the overload. Wordfence may be what tips it over the top, though, going forward it will be important to raise the memory on your site or you will likely run into this issue eventually with or without Wordfence.

So the best step forward would be reaching out to your host and asking them to check what your memory is set at currently and having them raise it. Show them the errors you’re seeing as well. 512m would likely be alright, though we do see some sites run higher regularly and it also depends on what you have installed on the site.

If you’re not sure how to raise the memory yourself, I would recommend asking your host.

Thank you so much for your reply. I have now changed the memory to 512M as you suggest following the explanations in the link you gave. That was nice and easy ??
I hope that will be enough. If I get the error again I will ask my host to increase the memory for me.
