My IT guy told me he could easily set up my website with an autoparts catalog using the files from our suppliers

When got links to the files and he found he couldnt get the website working correctly using aces and pies and when he couldnt figure it out after loading a bunch of apps that didnt help he just stopped trying

He couldnt figure it out and he builds websites and I am just lost
When COVID hit he stopped doing anything with the site and nothing has been done in over 8 months, I am trying to do what I can to understand things but I am a mechanic and its all confusing to me

I just wanted a website that had a basic car parts catalog the you could simply find parts by make year model and engine type just like rockauto….simple and no frills

There is nothing on our site just an under construction because he never got it to the working phase and stopped caring about it

I have been trying to figure out how to convert the aces and pies so they will upload to WP but when I go to upload there is too much info that I have no clue about

    Hi Bruce,

That sounds awful and I can only imagine the frustrating experience to date! Getting this to work correctly will definitely take some effort and seeing as this is more about site-building & setup than troubleshooting per se, a dedicated web developer is definitely recommended.

I’m not sure how you got in touch with your existing web developer but have you considered working with the vetted experts over at https://woocommerce.com/customizations/?

I have talked with a few people since this started and the biggest issue for me was startup money as I started with a small budget since I am not working and didnt have huge funds
My IT guy was a personal friend and knew these issues so instead of payment up front he wanted a % after profit that we agreed to
Even though I didnt put allot of money toward paying for the work I have been renting a server and paying for apps and software that I have zero clue what to do with
I would love to know how to do some of this myself but the last training I got in software was GW Basic in college and I am a bit out of the loop

    Hi @brutixxx88 ,

That sounds good! I’m sure with a bit of guide, you would be able to set up your store. Here are some of the resources I suggest for setting up your store with WooCommerce.

    1. For setting up a WooCommerce site, I recommend going to YouTube and searching for “How to set up a WooCommerce site”. You will great good tutorials, I recommend watching the one that was uploaded in 2020 (to ensure it has the recent interface).
    2. Since you want to add car parts which would then be searchable by the customers using various factors like make, model and year, I recommend adding the products and then add the make/ model/ year as “attributes”.
    3. You can then add the Filter Products by Attribute widget to your site so that the customers can filter out and find the products based on model/make/year.

    I hope this helps!

    Hi there,

I have looked at a few youtube videos and I figured out how to convert the aces and pies from our suppliers but when I convert to CSV it explodes into so much information

Instead of converting the file you get from your supplier, can you try manually adding the entries to a CSV file that you can later import to WooCommerce? WooCommerce requires CSV files to be of a specific format, you can download a sample CSV file for WooCommerce here: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/blob/master/sample-data/sample_products.csv

Do let us know how that goes.

Hi @wpnomad. We haven’t heard from you in a while so I’m going to go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. If you still need help with this issue or have any other questions about the WooCommerce plugin, please start a new thread..
