Hi, I’m getting this error on site, since 24.06.14 Probably after update?

“Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 85 bytes) in /home/sample/public_html/wp-includes/meta.php on line 778”

The error afects only the front page of the site, where is located a widget with the latest ads. No matter if the widget is deleted, the error still occures.

The page with the ads (not the frontpage) is working.

I also checked the memory allocated, is ok. Only if this plugin is active i got the error mentioned above.

I had to deactivate the plugin for the frontpage to work.

    Please review the situation

  • Hi ghera,

Sorry you ran into issues here. You’ve hit the dreaded shared hosting problem. Looks like your hosting company limits your website to 134MB of RAM which isn’t a lot. 256 is the recommended amount of memory we suggest, especially if your site is under a reasonable level of traffic and the other sites on your server use resources too.

You might be able to reduce the frequency of the problem by changing the amount of data you’re showing on the front page (that 134MB is about PHP needing memory to pull everything for the page, including the ads from AWPCP). Aside from that, your other choices would be to upgrade hosting or move to a different server for your host.

    Hi, thanks for your answer.

First I have to say that the plugin worked just fine for two months, no troubles until now. They suddenly appeared two days ago. Considering using the same memory, might indicate the error has another cause than the 134 mb limit?

Second, for the frontpage of the website, that comes with the error when the plugin is activated: the error still appears when the ads are removed from it. The website work just fine on the other pages, with the plugin activated.

    Any other advices?
    Thanx

I don’t have any other immediate thoughts off hand. We haven’t updated the plugin since April, so I don’t know what recently changed on your site, but it wasn’t AWPCP most likely unless you delayed the update until a few days ago.

We’d be happy to take a closer look if you can provide admin/FTP credentials to us here, along with a link to this forum thread: https://awpcp.com/contact/

Hi, solved it by installing “plugin organizer” and disabling unnecessary plugins on front page. Hurray!

    Glad to hear it’s sorted!
