Website Frontend won’t load but back end will

Since you have access to the dashboard…

Switch the active theme to the default (TwentySeventeen) theme and let’s test to see if it makes a difference.

If the frontend loads, you’ve found the culprit.

If it doesn’t’ solve the problem, disable ALL plugins and test the site.

If disabling all plugins solves the problem, you know one of your plugins is the culprit. But which one? Let’s see…

Now enable the plugins… but one at a time, testing each time, until you discover the plugin that will let the site stop working again.

Just before I do that I wondered whether it might be worth trying to find out whether the problem rests with my hosting service. Unfortunately I can’t contact them as it’s a Saturday but I wondered whether there’s any way of checking remotely that their server is not at fault (in which case I guess I’ll just have to wait for Monday!) I can access the control panel.

Since your ISP is closed until Monday (???) and you can’t access your Control Panel (Huh???) you might want to work through what George suggested. Otherwise, if you need to call them on Monday, you’ll be a little better at arguing with them when they tell you ‘It’s one of your APPs’.

And you’ll get an ‘uptime bonus’ if you fix it now.

Sorry – wasn’t clear – I can access my control panel. And I didn’t think my ISP were available on Saturdays but they just responded to an email and everything is ok at their end.

So I’ll try what’s been suggested.
