I would really like to try this plugin but every time I install it (through the admin section), my site no longer loads. I just get a white screen. I have to go into the BlueHost’s File Manager to manually delete the plugin before the site comes up. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I read your requirements page and I think I might be missing something. Since you recommend BlueHost, I’m hoping you can help point me in the right direction.

I use Bluehost to host my site. My server runs Linux. I am running Apache 2.2.31, PHP 5.4.43, MySQL 5.5.42. My upload size is set to 15GB. My permissions are 755. Memory = 128MB. I use the 2012 theme. All good there. I removed the semicolon in front of the GD Library module in my php.ini file so I’m hoping that means I’ve enabled it.

What I can’t figure out is if I have PHP Safe Mode turned Off or if mod-rewrite is active.

I tried installing this after I disabled all of my other plugins but had the same error. Here’s a list of my plugins though:

    Captcha by BestWebSoft
    Cloudflare
    Contact Form by BestWebSoft
    Disable Comments
    EWWW Image Optimzer
    Jetpack
    Meta Slider
    Quick Featured Images
    Simple Page Ordering
    Use Google Libraries
    Wordpress Backup to Dropbox
    Wordpress Importer
    WP Super Cache
    Xili re/un-attach media
    Yoast SEO

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

@hmiller – There are/were some problematic plugins in that list … with all of them still deactivated, also make sure to clear your browser caches as well or use an anonymous browser window to install NextGEN Gallery.

Also consider removing any cache references on your site as well … WP Super Cache is very good but sometimes there are cache artifacts left behind that can still affect a sites performance. Fortunately WP Super Cache is very easy to re-install and configure if you need to manually clear all of its references.

    Hello!
I will be impolite and add to this thread, since I have the same problem.
Running WordPress 4.4 on my own Linux server.

    OS: CentOS 7.2.1511 (core)
    PHP: 5.4.16
    MariaDB: 5.5.44

    Memory limit in PHP.INI: 256MB
    Memory limit in WP-CONFIG.PHP: 128MB
    Forced admin to SSL
    Forced login to SSL

    Active plugins:
    AKISMET 3.1.6
    Wordfence Security 6.0.22
    WP-Pagenavi 2.89.1
    Inactive plugins:
    Hello Dolly 1.6
    iThemese Security 5.1.1

    Removed plugins:
    Wordfence Assistant

I think in my case the real problem is:
When I add the Nextgen folder under plugins, the plugin isn’t found by the admin GUI. If I copy the nggallery.php file to the plugins folder, it is picked up by the admin GUI.

As for the OP, when I activate NG Gallery, my web page goes all white and any reload stays the same until I remove the nggallery.php file (which is in the wrong location to begin with).

I have the output from restarting HTTPD, which throws a number of PHP Warnings and ends with
PHP Fatal error: Class ‘C_Photocrati_Global_Settings_Manager’ not found in /var/www/html/wp-content/plugins/nggallery.php on line 187, referer: https://<site URL>/wp-admin/plugins.php

I have checked that all files are in place as well as folder and file permissions, all looks good (755 on most and 775 on the NG Gallery plugin folders).

    // Matts

A stupid question… Which account should have ownership of the WP files, including the plugins? Have a feeling that could be a problem.

Should probably add that I have no FTP service on the server and no SSH login for root, so all installation is made manually by copying the files via SSH using a common user, setting permissions and moving the files to the plugins folder.

    Cais,

Thank you for the quick reply! Install was a success, I cannot thank you enough. I should have realized that disabling WP Super Cache may not have been enough.

    Cheers,
