• In my infinite wisdom whilst only needing to update my wordpress theme via Filezilla, I really messed my website up. I went into Filazilla, highlighted every file on the right side (not just wordpress), right clicked and selected download. I did this because I misunderstood a tutorial video about backing up your website with Filezilla. When asked if I wanted to overwrite, etc. I just clicked overwrite file. By the time it was done my website wouldn’t load at all. There is just a blank white screen.

Please, I would greatly appreciate any ideas on how I can get my website back up and running.

  • When you go to your website in the FTP screen, does it list any files?

Also, where did these files download to on your computer? Do you see them in the left side of Filezilla?

Yes I see them on both the right and left side of Filezilla.

Sorry about the late reply I’ve been at the in rural Thailand for the last few days with no internet connection.

I don’t see how that would bring your site down. Check the wp-config.php file in the root directory of your website to see if your database connection information is still there.
