    Hello everyone

Jetpack notified me 3 times this morning that my website is down and when I tried to access it, they were right. I checked on isitdownrightnow too, and they also said it was down.

The message I’m getting is: ‘Your site is responding intermittently, or extremely slowly. This can indicate an overloaded, under-powered, or misconfigured server. Your site is probably loading for some users, but not for everyone.

    ‘Error reference: 196849385/intermittent’

I tried to log in to my dashboard and that was down too.

I tried a recovery link in a previous support thread replacing the domain name with mine, and that didn’t work either.

Is there a known issue or is it just me? I use Dreamhost, and that’s all working, other than it said my website is now ready and I can start uploading content… ??

    Thanks for any help.

  • Your website works for me now.

Have you resolved the issue already?

Is there a known issue or is it just me?

As WordPress does not host the website, there can’t be any such “known issue” with WordPress that would let all WordPress sites go down completely or even intermittently.

Thank you, yes, it’s working again now and was down for several hours, apparently. (Just picked up the Jetpack email too, alongside this one.)

I think it was Dreamhost after all, but I’m now concerned that if I can’t access the control panel either, what happens if Dreamhost drops out for much longer? If I can’t access the control panel, I’m stuck. Would this be a disaster recovery with them or would WordPress enable me to change the host?

The WordPress software is installed on your host’s servers, and all your data are on your host’s servers.

www.remarpro.com merely provides the free WordPress software, does not store any user’s website data, and, consequently, cannot help you recover your data.

What you can do is install a backup plugin, and configure it to automatically take a backup of your entire site and send it to an external location (eg Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Amazon S3, etc).

This way, you’ll always have a backup of your site… and you’ll be able to restore it to another host should your current host experience extended downtimes!

Thank you. Very much appreciated. I’ll definitely look at that. ??
