• Hi All,

    First post on the forums.

    I help my father law with his small business in regards to his website, which was created by someone else.

    On Saturday I logged into the WordPress dashboard and updated a few plugins after being notified, now the website is down with the following error message;

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home4/elite/public_html/www.precisionwindowsworthing.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/easy-wp-smtp/easy-wp-smtp.php on line 174

    I am unable to log into the dashboard to try and resolve etc.

    I think it may be a result of the PHP version being out of date, is this correct?

    The tricky thing is because I didn’t create the website I have no access to the hosting account. I tried to raise a ticket with HostGator who I believe hosts the website but they will not speak to me without the credentials.

    Hoping some experienced users can point me in the right direction…

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Do you have FTP access? You’ll need either FTP or hosting control panel access to login and delete the directory www.precisionwindowsworthing.co.uk/wp-content/plugins/easy-wp-smtp/

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    I don’t have FTP access or hosting control panel access as I am trying to get hold of the person who created the website.

    Why can’t I access the dashboard to resolve?

    You need login+pass of the server to configurate a FTP access. I see that you site is hosted in hostgator.com

    To the FTP access you’ll need the FTP host adress + user + password. You can have it (or generate a new one) from the Hostgator control painel.

    Once you have access to the ftp, find the folder of this plugin and rename it.

    Hostgator allows you to rename the folder from the painel. There’s an option to manage the files. I suggest you to contact them directly in order to gain some speed on the solution.
