• This morning i updated the theme under the “updates” section. Now our entire website is completely different. All our images, appearances etc are not what we had set up. All customizations are gone. We are using Hemingway. Is there a way to backtrack and get our website BACK the way it was? All the TEXT is there, the pages are there, it’s just the layout/images etc are wrong, and when i try to reselect what the images WERE, i can’t get it to reset properly.

The person who set up our website is gone, and we’re supposed to be able to easily just run updates and edit minor info, but none of us are qualified to be messing around in any coding. I have no idea how to back track and get our website back. PLEASE help me get it back!

  • For future reference, situations like these are why you should use child themes and not modify a theme directly.

Aside from that, there’s not really a lot you can do, really. I’d recommend:

    1. Try your hosting provider, they probably have backups of your server and may help you restore you site for a fee.
    2. Hire someone to redo the modifications.

    Sorry!
