Website Call Conversions Not Working

    Hello,

    Is there a way to get the plugin to work with google ad’s Website Call Conversions where the phone number changes?

    My phone number will change everywhere on the page except for the Call Now button. I already enabled conversion tracking in settings but that doesn’t work.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your message! It appears that Google needs a match with the visible text first before it will change a linked phone number. So the button on your website says “Call Us Now” which doesn’t match with the phone number and as a result, nothing is changed. When you change the text on the button to your phone number, then it does work. Even if the number is only part of the text. So for example, if your button text would be “Call us at 703-307-1048” then it changes the number in the text on the button as well as the phone number that the button is linked to.

    The alternative would require some dev work, but you could use JavaScript to look for the number change elsewhere on your page and then update the number on the button to match it.

    Hey Jerry… I clicked on one of my own ads today, and the number changed on the Call Now button text, but when I clicked on the Call Now button — and it opened up the phone app — the number was the original one. Any ideas on what to do?

    That’s very strange. With the Chrome debug hastah (#google-wcc-debug) it definitely works. I’ve just tested that again on your website. You might be better of asking Google about this. I don’t see why it would only work with their debug tool.
