• Hi All,

After quite some time of inactivity (approx. 6 months), I wanted to pick up where I left off on our festival website.
I tried to reach to my wp-admin page to administer everything. But whenever I browse to domain.be/wp-admin/ it actually shows the home page, but the browser path is showing the domain.be/wp-admin/ path.
Important to add is that the website itself is not functioning. Whatever you click, it just loads the homepage not the page/blogpost you are trying to reach.

My automatic WordPress updates were enabled, plugin updates not.
My backup settings are set 1x weekly & 1 monthly. They are both dated from Januari, and both contain the issue. I have no later point to get back to.

    I tried several things:

    • Clear cache
    • Clear cookies
    • Use FTP to rename theme and/or plugin folder.
    • Remove .htaccess

None of the above steps resolved my issue.
I do have some kind of admin access using the wordpress app, however, I’m unable to do anything related to plugin or themes. It always gives an error message saying it fail to disable or update any plugin.

I’m a bit desperate here and out of idea’s. I was hoping anyone with some more experience could guide me in the right direction to solve this issue.

    Thanks for you input!

Also, “https://www.afritdrongen.be/wp-login.php” doesn’t work. Do you have any security plugins installed that would “protect” you from bad login attempts?

    Hi Steven,

    Thanks for your reply.
https://www.afritdrongen.be/wp-login.php doesn’t work either. Also refers to the homepage.
Yes, I do have ‘security’ plugins installed:

    • Jetpack
    • Limit login attempts reloaded
    • WP 2FA
    • W3 total cache
    • Really simple SSL

    Can you disable Jetpack?

@mathieuhebbrecht I would rename the plugins directory which will disable all the plugins.

@alexakhter I already tried that. This did not make any difference strange enough.

@sterndata I want to but I don’t find a working way to disable the plugin. Whether it is jetpack or anything else.

I renamed the folder, and refresh the page. Everything is the same. Tried even ons different pc’s.

@mathieuhebbrecht What OS and website management are you using on the server for example windows 2022 and iis 10?

There might be a setting within the sql database under options table.

@alexakhter why would the server OS matter?

An update to the (unresolved) situation:
    – After messing around with lot of stuff I put back an older backup, one which still contains the issues (everything redirecting to the homepage, including wp-admin , wp-login.php, …)
    – With this backup I started again by disabling the plugin folder. Same result.
    – I tried removing .httpacces, no improvement
    – I tried switching to another theme, but there is no other theme installed, so this did not work either
    – After every action I cleared my cache to unsure I was not getting a masked result.

Please help me out here, I don’t want to start over…
