• Hi there,

I’ve seen that people have been asking for webp support for over 3 years now. Unfortunately I cannot use your plugin without that support… Please stop stalling and release this feature, we need it. I don’t want to go to a new plugin but I will if I have to.

Can you give us a definite release date when webp will be available?

  • Hi,

the support for webp is really important for all of us. Once you allow to use the webp support on any of your platforms, you ara not anymore using the optimised/cached graphic.

So, please, the release date would be really fine.

    Thank you.

Not all websites use webp (such as safari), so optimized graphics is then still needed.

Safari 14 beta is already webp supporting, hope this comes as a standard (I am not Apple consument).

And sure, you are right, but it is fine when your browser reckognizes the possibility of webp usage (and loads the graphic with lossless), while you still have optimized jpgs as a backup ??

So I find this as a need for the future.

    Hi Guys,

We’ve received our queries, we now it’s a major enhancement of the Service and plugin as we have to manage also “old” browsers which won’t support webp.

Another important point, such enhancement needs additional server power, and is not easy to manage with our totally free approach.

We have to take a definitive orientation by the end of january (our goal) so I hope I’ll have some good news to bring to you soon.

    Cheers,
    Charles

    Hi resmuhit guys,

first of all – you are doing a great job!

Well, as I wrote – the possibility for older browsers to display the original jpg/whatever img source is still on, so I would not focus on this. Yes, the size of the site grows almost twice due to the image duplication. But to tell the truth – does it really matter?

And the server power – why don′t you set up some minimal fee for usage of your service? I know – it is kind and everything to have your service for free, but if you need to upgrade or whatever..

    Best regards.
    Kristian

I think people would pay a reasonable yearly fee for the service. Other services are just too expensive. Or offer free up to a reasonable amount of images per month and if someone wants to mass resize a lot of images in one run, a reasonable fee to do that would be good and then after that they would only need the free monthly allowance.
