Hello!

I ran and completed the image optimization process with Image WebP Replacement active.

For most images the WebP version is now displayed on the front-end but not for the most important ones: the Mobile hero image ( https://shorturl.at/vxFIL ) is not replaced with the WebP version ( https://shorturl.at/cr278 ) and the desktop hero image ( https://shorturl.at/sNOV2 ) is not replaced with the webp version ( https://shorturl.at/bfxFJ ).

For both these images, in file manager I can see the bk.jpg, jpg, WebP and thumbmails and in Media library I can see that the images have been optimized ( https://ibb.co/93dNBDN ).

I have tried clicking “Use Optimized Files” multiple times but still the jpg version is displayed on the front-end.

These images are excluded from lazyload.

Is there any way to force the WebP replacement for these images?

Cache plugin shows webp image only if its size is smaller as the original image.

If a browser doesn’t support webp image type then the original image is used. This is mostly the case if iPhone Safari version < 13 is used, so use a browser that supports webp image if you check functionality of webp replacement.

On the same browser, for other images the webp version is served.

Is the affected image a background image or set by Javascript?

In this case webp replacement is not supported.

Hello @egletiere
I have taken a look over your homepage and I see that some images are indeed JPG, not WEBP. There are a few reasons:
– as @mukoka pointed out: images set in JS are not replaced with WEBP, the plugin will not support this.
– I checked(for example): https://chotronette.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/400_snow-queen-3-450×300.jpg there is this image on homepage. It is not changed to WEBP because https://chotronette.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/400_snow-queen-3-450×300.jpg.webp does NOT exist. The image is not created, do not exist.

There are not many solutions you can try, 1 that come in mind is: create WEBP manually and upload to the path and keep the name 400_snow-queen-3-450x300.jpg.webp
Usually the server do not create WEBP images if the file size of 450x300 JPG is smaller than 450x300 WEBP In this situation there no need to use a larger image ??
