WebP is not getting created for many images.

    Yeah, WebP isn’t always smaller, even more so now that WordPress dropped the default JPG quality to 82.

    Oh! So the WebP version will only gets created if it is smaller? Or else it wont get created at all?

    mostly right. It gets created every time, but only saved if it is smaller. But yeah, the end result is the same. You only get a WebP image if it is smaller than the original.
