    Hi Imagify,

We have enabled ‘Create WebP versions of images‘, ‘Display images in WebP format on the site‘ and ‘Use <picture> tags?(preferred)‘ on our website in the Imagify settings. Then we save it and continue to the bulk optimizer. When we click the Imagif’em all button it instantly says ‘All your media files have been optimized by Imagify. Congratulations!’ But when we check the imagify column in the media library we see that there is no WebP generated. Example of a random image:

    • New Filesize:296.87 KB
    • Original Saving:11.47%
    • Original Filesize:335.33 KB
    • Level:Lossless
    • WebP generated:No
    • Thumbnails Optimized:8
    • Overall Saving:10.75%

Since there is no WebP generated, the frontend is also not using the picture tag. What can we do to bulk generate the WebP versions for existing images?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @renewmyid

I am sorry to hear about the issue.

It is strange as this the way that WebP images will be created, during the optimization procedure and if the “Create WebP” option is enabled through Settings > Imagify.

If you have saved the original version of your optimized images(this can be done if you have the “Backup original images” option enabled before optimization) then you can see through Settings > Imagify on the WebP section, the button “Generate missing WebP versions” which can create in bulk the WebP versions that were not created of the already optimized images, can you confirm that?

    Best Regards,

    Ioanna

    Hi Ioanna,

I am looking for the “Generate missing WebP versions” button on the Imagify settings page, but i don’t see it. In a screenshot i found online i saw it should be in the WebP section just below the info-line:

However the button doesn’t seem to appear in my case. Is there anything i can do to generate the WebP images yet?

    Hi Loanna,

I haven’t heard from you anymore. Could you please look at my last question? I’ve updated the plugin to the latest version, but the button still isn’t there.

    Hello,

I apologize for the delay in getting back.

Regarding the “Generate missing Next-Gen version” tool, unfortunately, there is a known glitch where sometimes it’s not related to generating Next-Gen itself, but to that counter, which might be wrong. Our developers are aware and I really hope that it will be improved soon.

However, a way to check that all your images are converted in Next-Gen is to enable the display WebP option(Settings > Imagify), so you can check if there are images not displayed in Next-Gen and if there is a Next-Gen version created for them.

You can check if a Next-Gen version of an image is created if you append .webp or .avif at the end of the image URL.

Also, on the following link you can see how to check if your images are displayed in Next-Gen on your site https://imagify.io/documentation/how-to-check-if-webp-image-is-displayed-on-your-site/.

Let me know if you need further assistance regarding this.

    Best Regards,
    Saransh.
