I have noticed that the plugin does not auto resize WebP versions of my images. My max image size is set to 2560 pixels wide, but the WebP versions exceed this width. Why?

    Hi @thekendog,

I’m really sorry you’re having issues with this!

This is actually a known issue that we have open here:

    https://github.com/wp-media/imagify-plugin/issues/521

Our developers do have this in their schedule to be worked on very soon, we hope to have this fixed sometime soon, though I can’t offer a specific date at this time.

Unfortunately, until this is resolved with an update you may need to try using a free tool like https://pixlr.com/ to resize your images before uploading them to your site. Then Imagify can optimize them after and they would end up being the correct size (WebP images included).

Please let me know if you have any further questions on this and I’ll be very happy to assist however I can!

    Best regards,
    Joseph

@wp_media as somebody who is paying for the unlimited tier, it’s a little annoying to see that bug first mentioned a year and a half ago and it hasn’t been addressed yet. Do you have an ETA for the fix?

    @thekendog,

Yes, I can certainly understand your point of view on this and I agree.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific time I can offer (as these things can vary), but we are aware that this is a very important feature and it is one of the next things our developers have scheduled to work on.

I’m really sorry that I can’t offer more than that at this time.

    Best regards,
    Joseph

Just discovered this bug today, it literally means that Imagify is making pages heavier if we use WebP… 600,000+ installs

@tenacityio yeah the plugin is not good. Surprising considering the same company also makes WP Rocket, which is fantastic. I stopped using it not long after I posted this ticket. Apparently even more issues lately with some auto optimize setting or something. Started using ShortPixel which is MUCH better.

@thekendog This seems like such an easy fix just send the “-scaled” version rather than the original version, which seems to be what they do with JPG. Or set the width, which is literally part of their API.

Checking ShortPixel out now; I’ve always stuck with Imagify because of its relationship to WP Rocket. The Smart optimization was annoying, this is unacceptable.

Still provide this option in paid plan and take the money – but without working solution? Thats how to scam people!
@wp_media we are also going to report, review and start refund.
