    At the advice of Divi theme customer support, I switched from Autoptomize and one other optimizer.

    LiteSpeed seems comparable, except for one thing: even though, best I can tell, I’ve followed their tutorial to get my photo’s automatically converted to webp (from jpg), it’s not working.

    I also don’t see where I can manually change any already uploaded jpg’s to webp.

    Anyone know how to get LiteSpeed to actually:
    1. automatically turn all future uploaded jpg’s to webp? And
    2. manually turn any recently uploaded jpg’s into webp?

    Thanks!
    Chris

  • There is actually no reason why the webp replacement function shouldn’t work. However, if you state that you have apparently installed additional plugins for image optimization, then there is definitely a reason. Deactivate and uninstall all other optimization and image optimization plugins because this is the immediate cause of conflicts and very likely the reason for your problems.

    @supervisor and @qtwrk,

    First, thanks for your time and advice.

    I’d already checked the boxes for the two cron functions. AND I’d already deactivated and thought I uninstalled WPOptimize and Autoptimize, but going back, I saw I hadn’t yet uninstalled them.

    I have uninstalled them, however before I did so, I checked my Media Images again in my main/parent page (christopherbabson.com) and they all showed up as webp (even though I hadn’t touched anything since last checking a few days ago, when I posted this question online).

    So, while, for some unknown reason, webp functions is now working in my main directory, and even though I’ve repeated all the same configuration steps I took in christopherbabson.com in my subdirectory courses.christopherbabson.com, AND I logged out and logged back into my subdirectory, the images in the subdirectory still remain only jpgs and aren’t converted to webp.

    Can you please think of any other possible reasons for webp not working in my subdirectory?

    Thanks!

    Chris
