I was using the webp optimization on my site and after waiting a few hours to have it “convert” the images, I checked the website in an incognito browser window and none of the images were displaying as webp. I checked back later, after clearing caches and waiting a couple of hours, and still nothing.

Thinking maybe something went wrong, I disabled the webp optimization. Now I have broken images all over my website. Any idea what happened and how I can fix this?

    Hi @renecarling,

When the WebP functionality is disabled, the following warning message is shown:

Deactivating the use of WebP images will delete all existing WebP files including images generated by the plugin and manually uploaded ones. We will regenerate WebP copies of your standard images anew if you enable the option.

This means that all WebP images will be deleted, no matter if they are generated by the plugin or not. Of course, if the images still exist in their original format, they should be loaded successfully on the site once the cache is cleared.

If you are using CloudFlare for your site, you should disable the caching for WebP images or disable CloudFlare completely:

If the issue still persists, please provide us with the site URL so we can look into it further.
