• I am trying to add a wordpress blog to my web site that is hosted by web. com. The 5 minute installation process has turned into more like 120 minutes and is still not successful. The problem stems from not being able to add user priveleges to the new MySQL database that I set up. After contacting web.com, it appears that I cannot add a wordpress blog to my site as long as I am using web.com! Please confirm this and make suggestions of what I should do next. I have already paid for my web hosting through Nov ’08.
This is from web.coms response: ‘Unfortunately there is no way to create user priviledges in SQL Database.’
    Thank you, Lisa

  • That’s a lame answer. Get a decent host and ask your money back!

Even if it is not possible for the users to modify privileges (although it’s a basic option at most hosting companies) – they should be able to give your DB user all privileges. If they cannot do that… they are amateurs.

Find a decent host that supports a dynamic database driven website such as the one you want. Put the money you’ve just as an investment in experience.
