  • Hi there, @lifeinjordosworld! Stories can be embedded in many creative ways and layouts. For better chances of being discovered, after publishing your Web Story, we encourage you to embed it into a regular article or post on your site by using the Web Stories Gutenberg block.

You can learn more from this Web Creators blog post or check out this reading about SEO guidance.

Thank you! I’m having trouble embedding the story. I have the plugin downloaded but there isn’t a Web Stories Gutenburg Block that comes up as an option for embedding? Is there a certain way to add the Block?

Also, is there any data on where the best placement for the web stories should be in a blog post?

For a little more information on the previous response: I have the web stories plugin, but the web stories Gutenberg block doesn’t show up in my editor.

It is your preference where to place the story in the article or post. Feel free to take a look around the Web Creators blog for inspiration. For example, here is a demo site showcasing embedded stories in different ways.

When you publish your story, does your screen look similar to this?

Do you see the button to add a block when you add a new post?

Do you have the Classic editor enabled or disabled?

When I go to publish a story, I can see the “add to new post” button and it works to put it into a new post. However, if I am working on an existing post, or am drafting a new post, the “web stories” block does not appear, and I am not able to find it in a search among my available blocks.

I do not have classic editor enabled.

@lifeinjordosworld Do you see the “Add block” icon on your page? When you click on the icon to insert a new block, are you able to search for the Web Stories block there?

Could you provide your Site Health information? You can share privately if you prefer.

The Web Stories block does not appear in the “add block” section, even after searching for it.

I filled out the provided form and included my site health information there.

@lifeinjordosworld Thanks, we’ll check for any conflicts. Could you tell me if you experience the same when switching to a default theme (e.g.Twenty Twenty-One) temporarily?

    (@lifeinjordosworld)

Thank you so much for checking for conflicts. I’ll wait on a response from you all to figure out how to make the plugin work successfully.

@lifeinjordosworld While we are investigating, can you help rule out if there is a conflicting theme issue by switching to a default theme (e.g.Twenty Twenty-One) temporarily to see if the Web Stories block appears?

@lifeinjordosworld Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue! We ran some tests and it appears that the Web Stories block is not displaying when the PublishPress Blocks plugin is enabled.

I’ve created a topic on the PublishPress Blocks support forum to ask if they are able to replicate this issue and about updating their plugin to allow the Web Stories block to display. I’ll update here when I hear back from them!

Thank you so much @shetheliving and @luckynasan for your help so far! I will wait until we hear back from PublishPress Blocks.

Hello! Wondering if there has been any update on this? Thank you!

Hi there @lifeinjordosworld! The PublishPress team has identified a fix and I have tested it to confirm. We’re now waiting on them to release it in a plugin update. I don’t have a timeline on that just yet, but I’ll let you know what I hear!

@lifeinjordosworld The PublishPress team has released a new version, 2.7.0, which should allow the Web Stories block to display in the Gutenberg editor. Can you please update to version 2.7.0 and see if this fixes the problem? Thanks!
