It’s easy and intuitive to make stories, but they aren’t being validated in Search Console. These are the 2 errors:

The tag ‘a’, a child tag of ‘AMP-STORY-GRID-LAYER animate-in’, does not satisfy the reference point ‘AMP-STORY-GRID-LAYER animate-in’.

The attribute ‘target’ in tag ‘$reference_point’ is set to the invalid value ‘_top’.

    Thanks for any guidance.

    Hi Curtis!

This appears to be an issue with Search Console’s AMP test involved here which I’ve already passed on internally. Your URL looks fine otherwise. It really seems to be an issue with the testing tool.

I’ll try to see if I can get a status update on this issue and will let you know as soon as I know more!

Hey Curtis, a quick update from my side!

We’ve identified this to be an issue with Cloudflare’s “**AMP Real URL**” option as they seem to use an older version of that feature.

While we’ll reach out to them about it, can you try to **turn off** that option in Cloudflare for your site to see if this resolves the issue for you?

Oh – sure. I’ll give that a try and update you here shortly. Thank you, Pascal.

Yes, Pascal, changing the URL setting in Cloudflare resulted in a valid result in Search Console. Thanks again.

I hope you can get Cloudflare to update that feature so it can be used without causing the errors. At this point, showing the “real-URL” for our thousands of AMP pages is more important than validating the occassional Web Stories post.

Would you have a suggestion for how I might follow the issue (either through you or Cloudflare) to know when it’s updated?

    Glad to hear it worked!

Your sentiment makes sense to me, which is why we are committed to helping fix this as soon as possible.

You can subscribe to the following GitHub issue where we’re tracking work on this on our side: https://github.com/google/web-stories-wp/issues/4689

At the same time, it might be worth for you to raise this to Cloudflare’s support as well in case they have any other suggestions for you. Perhaps you could disable the AMP Real URL option only for stories, for example.
