    Hello,

Recently, I installed the Google Web stories plugin in my blog and created one story also which is indexed now. But getting an error all of my web stores telling me

The parent tag of tag ‘html’ is ‘$root’, but it can only be ‘!doctype’.

The mandatory tag ‘html !doctype’ is missing or incorrect.

    Custom JavaScript is not allowed.

i try disable all plugin and current themes but still getting error.

    one of web stores https://roverrecommended.com/web-stories/how-stop-your-dog-from-barking-at-the-doorbell

Please let me know how can I solve this issue?

    Waiting for the answer.
    Thanks & Regards.

Hi there, thanks for reaching out!

The first two issues are basically the same, there is a blank line before the document starts. The root cause for that might be tricky to find, though it could be caused by the third issue.

The third issue with the custom JavaScript actually appears to be quite concerning on your site. This custom JavaScript appears to be some kind of malware. It can also be found everywhere else on your website, like the homepage for example. The script’s content is very cryptic and starts like this: <script>var st=document.createElement('script'); st.innerHTML=atob("dmFyIHN0PWRvY3VtZW50LmNyZWF0ZUVs … This obfuscated script loads more obfuscated JavaScript from the domain cdntoswitchspirit.com which is flagged as malicious by multiple security vendors.

In short: you appear to have a serious malware issue on your site and you and your visitors might be at risk. I highly recommend asking your site’s developer or hosting provider for help to get this sorted out first.

Again, this issue appears everywhere on your website. But once it’s fixed, it might also resolve the issue with the web story validation.
