    Web Stories Show 404 page?

I am only using one plugin Google Web Stories to create stories on my site. They work perfectly in the draft mode with no errors. But when I publish my web stories, they do not go live.

They go directly to a 404 error.

Please let me know what it is happening and how to resolve it?

Hi there, thanks for reaching out!

Can you please share the website URL so we can take a closer look? Your Site Health information would also be helpful. To share, go to Tools -> Site Health -> Info, and then copy site info to clipboard for pasting it here.

    Hi. It’s https://www.shopbestinindia.com/

The stories plugin has been creating problems for many users. We have disabled all the plugins and it still did not work. Changed to other theme but no solution. Do not want to repeat all these steps again.

It works fine in preview mode but when you publish it, it gives 404 error.
The permalinks settings have been checked as well.

I check some of the threads started by other users but do not quite understand the solution.

Well, if you have a highly custom setup with tons of plugins and a custom theme and a page builder it’s impossible to tell what is causing this. That’s why I asked for the Site Health information in my previous reply, so that we can try to replicate your setup.

Just to clarify, when you checked your permalinks, did you go to Settings -> Permalinks and hit “Update”?

You mentioned you tried to disable all plugins. Have you also temporarily disabled the Web Stories plugin?

Unfortunately we can only look at your site from the outside, so if you have ongoing issues with permalinks it’s best to get a developer to devote some time to debugging your site, maybe through your hosting provider.

Just like any WP site, we use SEO and other plugins. It is not a complex or a very big custom built site. We chose a theme and did not make any modifications in its code. Just installed and used it to display content.

We hit the save changes button. They are set to https://www.shopbestinindia.com/sample-post/

Haven’t temporarily disabled Stories plugin yet.

In my previous thread as well, I had shared site health, but no reply came on it from the customer support.

Once, the stories were seen working in ingonito mode of chrome but now they aren’t. They do not even work in Microsoft Edge or Firefox.

Sorry to hear your previous support topic went unresolved.

Haven’t temporarily disabled Stories plugin yet.

Please try it! Even better, try completely uninstalling the plugin and installing it again. As long as you do not check the “Plugin Uninstall” checkbox under Web Stories -> Settings, you will not lose any data.

This often helps with this kind of quirks.

If it doesn’t, then please take the advice and reach out to your hosting provider or site developer to further debug your installation, as we can’t do this from the outside.

Hi, I tried uninstalling the plugin and installing it again. The stories still show 404 error.

Thanks for trying it out. In that case it’s best to consult a developer or your hosting provider to debug the details of your installation.
