Hi, dear web stories plugin team,

We all are having issues with the web story.

    Issues:
    ? Next/Previous icon disappeared.
? Web stories not loading frontend.
? Web stories cannot edit backend: We detected a potential misconfiguration that prevents media items from loading correctly. This may be due to media being hosted on an external CDN.

The plugin was working perfectly until last week and I suddenly noticed the next and previous icon disappeared. And also for me the media is not loading frontend and backend.
    Please help ????

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello @bikiransimkhada thanks for opening a topic. Sorry to hear you are having issues with the plugin.

    Next/Previous icon disappeared

We are aware of this and the team are currently working on a fix for this which you can follow through the GitHub issue: https://github.com/GoogleForCreators/web-stories-wp/issues/11224.

    Web stories not loading frontend

This could be due to a plugin conflict. Could you please share your Site Health information or You can share privately if you prefer via this form.

Web stories cannot edit backend: We detected a potential misconfiguration that prevents media items from loading correctly. This may be due to media being hosted on an external CDN.

The message you are seeing could be due to a number of reasons with the most likely being a CORS error. To confirm if this is being caused by CORS could you please check our guide for this, specifically the section ‘confirming the misconfiguration‘.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi @adamdunnage thank you for your reply. I’ve shared my site health to you via the form. I still couldn’t figure out why is it not displaying in the frontend.

Web stories cannot edit backend: We detected a potential misconfiguration that prevents media items from loading correctly. This may be due to media being hosted on an external CDN.

Even though I see this message at the backend, the media is all loaded. I followed the turoieal and inserted Access-Control-Allow-Origin in the .htaccess file.

    Thank you.

@bikiransimkhada No problem at all. I can see that your site is using the following plugins:

    • Jannah Speed Optimization
    • WP Super Cache

Can you please try temporarily deactivating these plugins and then re-test your stories to see if they then display.

I deactivated those plugins and checked the url. But still nothing.

    https://therantmag.com/web-stories/the-batman-how-the-zodiac-killer-and-the-long-halloween-influenced-riddler/

It is completely blank. Never experienced something like this before.

@bikiransimkhada Thanks for trying this and for your patience. If possible could you also try this with all other plugins you have active just to ensure that there are no conflicts with any of the other remaining plugins.

Could you also try editing one of your affected stories and try publishing once more if this is possible to see if that makes any difference?

I will continue to investigate while you carry out these checks.

Hi @adamdunnage the plugin is working all fine now. Wonder has happened. I decativated all the plugins and activated them again and now the plugin is working all fine.

    Check the url:
    https://therantmag.com/web-stories/academy-explains-why-will-smith-wasnt-removed-after-slapping-chris-rock/

Not sure what happened there but the problem seem to have fixed.

@bikiransimkhada Yes I can confirm that I can also see the story now and that it is valid. This would suggest some sort of plugin conflict was causing this.

If this happens again I would suggest once more deactivating plugins one by one and trying your stories to see which particular plugin is causing the conflict and you can then reach out to the plugin team to see if they can assist with that further.

Hopefully this doesn’t happen again for you but happy to help if you have any more issues with your Web Stories.

Is there anything else I can help you with or are you happy for me to mark this topic as resolved?

Thank you so much @adamdunnage You can definitely mark this topic as resolved.
I tried to activate plugins individually to see if there was any conflict with any plugin, but luckily it worked without being any conflict.

That’s all for this thread but I have started another thread where I would like to make the web stories circle smaller than what it currently is. If you can help me with that, the would be great.
