Web stories not showing on mobile (again)

  • Hello. After the recent update (1.10.1), a client pointed out that their web stories stopped working on mobile. I searched through the Web Stories forum, and saw that one of the issues could be the “Load Lazy Images” option from JetPack…I disabled lazy images and cleared site cache to test it, but the images still will not display. In the following video, the first image is completely skipped (it didn’t show) and the second story only showed when I physically touched the screen. Otherwise, my client is reporting that there is only a blank screen.

    The support team for this plugin is great!
    I appreciate any help you can provide.

    A few questions for you so we can troubleshoot this:

    1. It looks like the device in the video is an Android. Can you tell me what type of phone it is and what browser?
    2. Have you been able to test on an Apple device like an iPhone or iPad, and is this issue happening on those devices, as well?
    3. You referred to two stories –?I see you tapping https://www.mattujmusic.com/web-stories/matt-u-johnson-press-web-story-el-paso-tx in the video, but I’m having a hard time figuring out what story you’re showing first in this video, and what happens. Can you clarify?
    4. Can you please share your Site Health information privately via this form?

    We have gotten a few reports about the issue with stories opening to a black screen, which appears to be a broader AMP problem that we’ll be working with them to resolve.

    @olealboy47 Heads up that we have confirmed that the stories opening to black is a bug in the broader AMP service, and we’ve created a GitHub issue here. Unfortunately I don’t have a timeline on when this will be resolved, but I will update you here when the fix has been released. Thank you!
