Web Stories not indexed

    Hi,

    Since Tuesday last week, I have the problem that my stories don’t get indexed properly. Some do, some don’t. Is there a known indexing issue?

    This web story, for example, https://www.alsothecrumbsplease.com/web-stories/biscotti-recipe/, I published last Tuesday and is still not on Google. A story I published on Friday, three days later, https://www.alsothecrumbsplease.com/web-stories/tiramisu-cake/ is already indexed.

    It’s also strange that under the sitemap tab on Google Search Console, it shows ‘9 discovered URLs’. I have published 8 stories so far, the last on Friday last week, plus the /web-stories/ URL is 9, so that is correct. Then I see 7 indexed pages under the AMP tab, and under the coverage tab, I see only 4 valid (submitted and indexed) and 2 excluded (discovered / crawled – currently not indexed) AMP sites. The numbers are not consistent. I don’t understand how it can show 7 indexed under AMP and 4 under coverage.

    At the same time, I noticed that the traffic to my web stories decreased drastically and is basically non-existing anymore. My newest 3 stories never got a single pageview.

    I don’t know if there are any issues from my side, or are there any bugs in the last 2 updates? The problems started when I updated the plugin last week. Where could I start investigating?

    Hi there,

    From what I can see both stories you shared here are valid Web Stories (according to https://search.google.com/test/amp), so I don’t see any technical issue in the plugin or anything.

    Crawling and indexing are processes which can take some time and which rely on many factors. In general, we cannot make predictions or guarantees about when or if your URLs will be crawled or indexed.

    As a first step, I’d recommend going through https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/7474347

    For further help it’s best to ask in the Google Search Central Help Community forums, as it’s not an issue with this plugin, but a question about indexing.

    I knew that my web stories pass the AMP test, which is the first thing I do after publishing. Okay, I will try to find an answer in the GSC forum and hope somebody can help me.

    It’s just a strange coincidence that with the plugin update, all these issues started to appear. I still think that there is a connection, and maybe this issue is not discovered or known until now.
