I recently implemented the plugin to fix the Yoast bug, and since then I’ve had 0 traffic with stories. All new and old stories are no longer having any pageviews.

My stories are passing the AMP test thankfully.

I’ve confirmed that many of my other blogger friends have had the same issues, with the Yoast + Web Story combo.

Please let me know if there are any updates or something else I should be trying?

I have the same problem, but with no traffic from Google Discover. I think because some posts its get some strikes, but in Search Console not show any problems.

I have traffic, but only direct and from traditional search. I was pretty discouraged after having gone through the least problem, but I’m still doing new webstories, even without more traffic.

I understand that not every Web Story hits Discovery, but I was averaging 1000s per day for months. Just like you, none of them are live anymore.

I’m also doing new ones, with no traffic.

Only direct search is coming through. I verified this through Search Console, GA, and Jetpack on WordPress.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

As you’ve already tested yourself, your stories pass the AMP validation. They also pass the Rich Results test. So from what I can see, everything is fine from a technical perspective and nothing should be blocking you from receiving traffic or anything.

The Yoast SEO bug was unfortunate, but with the workaround plugin you’ve installed you’re all set. And they’re working on a fix too, so you won’t be needing that plugin for long.

Regarding Google Discover, we’ve heard from other users that it’s normal to get lots of hits at the beginning and then fewer over time. So this doesn’t sound unusual.

So yeah, your story looks fine and should be indexable without issues.

To get dedicated help regarding appearance on Google Search and Discover, I recommend consulting the Search Central documentation, specifically the section about Web Stories.

To check if Google Search has indexed your Web Story, use the URL Inspection Tool to submit individual URLs or review status using Index Coverage Report or Sitemaps report.

The Web Stories best practices and content policy are also good resources in general.

@chilesandsmoke Web Stories has released version 1.12.0, which should resolve the compatibility issue with Yoast:?https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/17419.

Please update to the latest version of Web Stories, safely remove the mini-plugin and the temporary workaround code in your functions.php file. Then, confirm the issue is resolved on your end as well. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!
