web site is very slow to load

  • we have a painfully slow site at https://www.nofari.org. I replaced our photos with smaller version. I deactivated all the plug-ins and changed the theme to twenty eleven from weaver II. This didn’t make things better – the loading speed may be worse.

    I took the time to update all the headers to fit the new theme size.

    there are not many useful widgets available with this theme. there is a search box in the menu bar as well as in the right column. I think we only need one and I prefer it NOT be in the menu bar.

    what shall I try next?

    if you are more savvy you could try a caching and CDN plugin like “w3 Total cache” or “wp Super cache”. There are tutorials online but I would suggest against this unless you are technically savvy and have a bit of experience with websites in general and WordPress in particular.

    other than that have you tried contacting your web server or checking their forum to see if their other clients are having trouble?

    I’ve been told we use WordPress rather than another web host. I’m not sure whom to ask about other hosted clients.

    That probably means your site is hosted by WordPress.com, you might check on their support fora to see if anyone is having a similar problem.

    I have searched many threads with these issues and tried many their suggestions with no improvement. Alas, the latest theme I tried made it worse.
