• I have registered with a provider that provided wordpress as a web development tool.

I have been running my web site for just over a year. https://www.serotonus.com.au

Recently, my complete website was deleted!. It would seem that my user name and password has been stolen and the DB user has been changed.

On contacting Crazy domians, this was there response.

Can you advise what step I can take to recover my website please?

    Thank you in advance

    Thank you for your email.

We have checked the databases and the configuration file on your web hosting space.
Firstly, the wp-config.php file is there.
Secondly, the database connection information on the file says to use the db serotonu_wpdb1 with user serotonu_wrdp1.
But the particular user is not assigned to be the db user of the db serotonu_wpdb1.

We were not sure what was really happened but as far as we see right now, it is wordpress configurations problem.
Since we are not providing direct support on third party scripts, please kindly contact wordpress support for further information.

Moreover, if there would be any security issue on your hosting space, most likely it would be causing by the wordpress itself as it is a known issue for these content management systems.

    Thank you
    Jim

make sure your user has rights to that DB, or change the user to one which does has access to that DB

    Thanks for the advice.

Sadly I never physically created these user names so I wouldn’t know. I guess the best is to delete and start again. This is a major pitfall. Crazy I can’t speak directly to someone from WP

It’s not crazy that you can’t speak to someone at WP. They did not break your site. They are not hosting your site. You are using their application for free, and there is nothing wrong with it. As I said, you do not need to start over, just fix your DB user permissions.

Thanks Mark, I am grateful for your feedback and am very appreciative, Thank you
You are correct they did not break it (however someone has), and I am using the application for free. This was part of the package when I signed up with Crazy Domains, so I guess I’m at fault.

My dilemma is that I never created the user or pwd originally. When I try to log on to WordPress as before, there is no text box for user name or password to my https://serotonus.com.au/wp-admin/

This is what I receive in response:
    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

Thank you for you input once again

Your DB config is not set in the wp-admin. Try going to your hosting company’s admin panel and looking for the DB config from there. Your hosting company should be able to help you with that.
